Welcome to John Rogers Elementary community! We are thrilled that you are here and looking forward to helping you connect with others and answer any questions you may have. The closure of our school may have stopped us from meeting each other in person, but given us a better opportunity to build meaningful relationships with each other. The main purpose for this space: to connect and build a stronger community with every family.

With distance learning comes new challenges for our school’s community to stay connected. This forum allows families to help one another address their concerns and work together to overcome these. We’re in this together!

Why not Facebook?

There is already a John Rogers PTA Facebook group, so why this forum? Not everyone is comfortable with Facebook, and this is a private place where your information won’t be used by anyone that isn’t a member of the school. In addition, The groups and category discussion here allow families to converse with their classroom or grade in a way that the FB group doesn’t.

Posts here are organized by category, some of which are to all school families, and others which are only to your grade or classroom. You can select the category you want to read or post to using the drop-down menu or the list of categories on the left side of the homepage. On the right side of the homepage, you should see new messages from all categories.

Virtual Community Terms Of Service

To help us with this purpose, here are the terms of service of this site:

  1. Generosity. Contributing more than you ask for. Even “liking” other’s questions or comments is a generous gesture that makes fellow parents feel they are seen and heard.

  2. Be kind.

  3. Use your best judgment. No comments against gender, race, religion, nationality etc. are allowed here.

  4. Don’t post anything confidential, and, at the same time, please respect confidences here. When sharing anything you learn here outside of the site, ask for the consent from the person you are quoting first.

  5. Avoid hot button issues. There are many excellent places for those conversations, but this isn’t one of them.

One important thing for using this space is engaging with others in the way that you would like to be engaged with. We work to create a safe place for sharing your thoughts, questions and challenges about remote learning and life in general.

Thank you for respecting the magic of this community and for giving and receiving in the spirit of what we are building together.

We’ll do our best to reach out to people who are out of sync with our terms of service, but we reserve the right to suspend or remove anyone from this site.

When in doubt, please consider rule 2.

Thank you!
